ABUJA – Members of Nigeria’s National Assembly who are billed to resume plenary sessions Tuesday (today) after a two month holiday were greeted with an unkempt working environment.

The same fate also befell the staff of the institution who went away with the lawmakers from both the Senate and the House of Representatives on July 27 after voting on the items earmarked for amendment in the 1999 Constitution.
Checks around the sprawling wing of the House of Representatives by Vanguard revealed that some collapsed infrastructures and other appearances were not fixed despite the long holiday.
For instance, the male toilet facilities located along the walkway of the “White House”, housing the Chambers were in shambles.
A look around the area showed a dirty floor with stagnant water.
Also, the hand washing basins had grown muds in it.
Consequently, the place as at the time of filing this report was oozing offensive stench.
Meanwhile, Vanguard observed that the walls along the White House were wearing some new looks, indicating that they were repainted.
