By Suzan Edeh

Bauchi—A non-governmental organisation, Oxfam, has planned to invest on nutrition and empowerment programmes for about 10,000 persons in Bauchi State.

Project Team Leader of the NGO, Dr. Francis Sa’ayinzat, stated this yesterday during an interactive field visit with about 90 beneficiaries at Kumbus, Jibam and Gaso communities of Dajin Ward in Tafawa Balewa council.

He said the project was currently being implemented in six local government areas, including Alkaleri, Darazo, Ningi, Gamawa, Tafawa Balewa and Shira, adding that the project will be funded by the Canadian government to reduce poverty and suffering among vulnerable farmers.

Sa’ayinzat said: “The project has so far identified and registered 3,165 (over 65% women) in all six Local Government areas, comprising 18 wards with 108 communities.”

Also speaking, Deputy Director of OXFAM in Nigeria, Mr. Constant Tchona, lauded the implementation of the project in all the three communities inspected.

In his company were two OXFAM representatives from Canada— Lucie and Marion.
