BENIN— COUNCIL of BENIN— COUNCIL of the MidWest Zone of the Independent Marketers Association of Nigeria, IPMAN, Edo State has dispelled rumour of a crisis in the zone, as it passed a vote of confidence in the Zonal chairman, Chief Raimi Suleiman and Mr. Johnbull Asemota, the Benin depot chairman, for their selfless services to the association. It described both men as the authentic leaders in the zone and Edo State.
The council also expressed gratitude to the NNPC Benin depot chief and the PPMC manager for their cooperation and good working relationship with IPMAN leadership in the zone by ensuring steady supply of petroleum products to all parts of Edo and Delta States. The zonal council of IPMAN in a resolution at the end of its emergency meeting in Benin City, Edo State, attended by the zonal chairman, Chief Suleiman, Elder Peter Ogbeide, member (BOT IPMAN), Rev. Friday Emuze, Zonal Secretary, among others, called on the Benin depot chief and the PPMC manager to disregard the statement credited to Chief Solomon Ogbewe on the position of the union in the zone. The resolution read by the Zonal Secretary, Rev, Emuze said Chief Ogbewe having served as the zonal chairman for over 10 years had ceased to be the chairman and can longer speak for the union.
The council therefore, called on all IPMAN members in the zone to remain calm and disregard the statement credited to Chief Ogbewe, saying, “We have since passed the era where one man dictates to the management of PPMC for the distribution of petroleum products across the zone.” The zonal council said that the sins of the IPMAN chairman in Edo State, Mr. Johnbull Asemota was that he has been carrying all members of the association along and was against the control of how petroleum products should be distributed.
