German varsity partners Thompson and Grace Investments

…For establishment of medical university in A-Ibom

UYO—Thompson and Grace Medical University of Nigeria, TGMU, may soon take off in Afaha-Obong, Akwa Ibom State, following the signing of Memorandum of Understanding, MoU, between the University of Hamburg, UKE, Germany and Thompson and Grace Investments Limited in Uyo, weekend.

Dean, University of Hamburg Medical Faculty, Prof. Uwe Koch-Gromus signed the deal on behalf of the German institution in the presence of the German Ambassador to Nigeria, His Excellency, Bernhard Schlagheck, Vice-Dean, Medical Faculty Hamburg varsity, Prof. Ansgar Wilhelm Loshse and Prof. Frank Norbert Riedel representing Hamburg Children’s Hospital, Germany, while Dr. Isaac Thompson Amos, who is the President and CEO of Thompson and Grace Investments Limited signed for the organisation.

The MoU document was formally presented to Dr. Amos at the conference in Uyo by Prof. Koch-Gromus.

The University of Hamburg, UKE, Germany through the MoU has confirmed its willingness to partner the university’s proprietors to “design and operate the Medical University in Nigeria.”

Speaking at a medical conference in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State, President/Chief Executive Officer of Thompson & Grace Investments Limited, Dr. Amos said that, his Group of Companies had earlier in the week signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the German university to partner (consult in the design and operation),  Thompson & Grace Medical University, and Thompson and Grace Specialty Hospital, TGSH, which is located at Afaha Obong in Abak Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State.

Dr. Amos said the partnership will enable both parties to jointly develop and provide structure, curriculum and practical programme as well as administrative and management processes for the Medical University and Specialty Hospital.

Also speaking, Dean, University of Hamburg Medical Faculty, Prof. Koch-Gromus said that, the UKE, located in Hamburg, Germany and T&GIL, with head office located in Lagos, Nigeria signed the Memorandum of Understanding, MOU, for the development of academic cooperation in international education in areas of mutual interest and expertise.
