THE Board of Lectors, St. Mary Catholic Church, Isolo, Lagos, has decried the erosion of culture as a result of globalisation, urging parents to revisit the values embedded in the entity called family.

The board contended that as a result of globalisation, the firmness that parents need to nurture their children in the fear of God had disappeared at the expense of the cherished Nigerian culture.

In his submission, at the annual Parents/Youths Forum organised by the board with the theme Globalisation and Culturalisation, Modern Family Dilemma, the Spiritual Director/Chaplain of the Board, Rev. Father Robert Wayas, noted that colonisation of Africa and the attendant development of science and technology has made Africans vulnerable to western ways of life.

While corroborating his view, the board’s Chairman, Mr. Michael Anosike, said the Board had promoted responsible lifestyles, good communication, healthy interaction and better relationship between parents and the youth.

MD, TFS Securities and Investment Co. Ltd., Mrs. Ebiere Fumudoh, also presented a lecture entitled Globalisation and Culturalisation: Modern Family Dilemma.
