Governor  Ifeanyi Okowa of Delta State has flagged off the Intelligence Gathering and Community Development department in the governors office in Warri.

In a courtesy visit to the head of the Unit by some community elders in Warri, Senior Special Assistant on Intelligent Gathering, Mr. Smart Olorunyomi Asekutu, urged community leaders and other stakeholders to take advantage of the office in seeking solution to their grievances.

“Governor Okowa means well for our people, that’s the reason he established the office which will serve as a platform for genuine complaints, claims and other issues begging for attention for prompt action”, Asekutu said.

Adding, “With this development, harassment of oil  workers and contractors will soon be a thing of the past as the office will serve as an avenue for aggrieved persons to air their complaints instead of taking laws into their hands. Youths should partner with elders of their communities on security matters, and collectively see the office as a gateway for expressing grievances”,.

He urged traditional institutions to pass intelligence information on illegal activities in their domains through the office before they escalate, as peace is necessary for development.
