Union Bank hockey team coach, Tunde Odedoku said his boys have all it takes to dominate the maiden national five -a – side hockey tournament, on-going at the Liberation Stadium, Port Harcourt,
Coach Odedoku said yesterday that his team has quality players with the experience to outclass the other teams featuring in the tournament. The Stallions began with a 1-0 win over Ocean Warriors of Bayelsa Saturday afternoon and Odedokun has said: “Our players are young, skilful and disciplined hence they shook off Jet Lag of Thursday’s journey from Lagos and won the opening match. We have the pedigree to clinch the title in Port Harcourt”.
Odedokun added that the tournament will help them to prepare adequately for the next national Hockey Super League and two International Friendly games in Accra, Ghana between April 21 and 24, 2017.
He was full of praise for the moral and financial support from Union Bank management towards developing Hockey and other Sports in the country.
Apart from Union Bank Men’s Hockey team, Rivers United, Rivers Kungs, Ocean Warriors of Bayelsa,Young Stead of Kwara and Delta Force are the other teams participating.
