Amb. Yakubu Jang, a former state in Plateau, has admonished Berom people not to allow divisive tendencies to take control of them.

Jang gave this advice on Saturday during the maiden celebration of”Nzem Berom” Cultural Day in Makurdi, Benue.

Jang, who was the Chairman of the occasion, is also a son of the immediate past, Governor of Plateau, Mr David Jang.

He said that there was power in unity, hence the need for all Berom people to stay united in order to achieve greater things for themselves.

Jang urged Berom youths to venture into technical education to be self reliant because white-collar jobs have become extremely difficult to come by in recent times.

He said that by so doing they would empower themselves and add value to the economy.

The Gbong Gwon Jos, Chief Gyang Buba, advised the people to be united in order to move forward.

Buba , who was  represented by the traditional ruler of Barkinladi, Chief Edward Gyang, also urged  them to live peacefully with their host community.

The National President, Berom Youth Movement. (BYM), Mr Choji Chuwang, also tasked the people on oneness and hard work as sure ways to success.

The Chairman, Berom Educational and Cultural Organisation (BECO) in Benue, Mr Pam Nyam, called on the government to empower the youths so as to take them off the streets and prevent youth restiveness.

The guest lecturer at the occasion, Mr Patrick Bot , in his paper entitled ”Entrepreneurship for National Development” , charged the people to be useful to themselves by engaging in gainful ventures.

Bot urged the people not to be discouraged  even when situations might compel them to start life from the scratch, stressing that even in such situations they should remain focussed and determined.

He advised them against waiting for people to assist them, saying the people should strive to empower themselves and if possible others.
