Ibadan—CENTRAL Council of Ibadan Indigenes has expressed worry over delay in the construction of the palace of Olubadan of Ibadan-land.

According to them, it is paucity of fund that has been responsible for the delay.

To ensure speedy construction of the ultra modern palace, the CCII said plan is underway to hold another fund raising event as part of activities to mark the first year anniversary of the reigning Olubadan, Oba Saliu Adetunji.

Though, the council was happy at the completion of the first phase of the project, it stressed that more funds would be raised for the second phase.

The President General, CCII, Chief Wole Akinwande said this while speaking with newsmen at Ibadan House, Oke-Aremo, Ibadan yesterday as part of activities marking  the commencement of 2017 Ibadan cultural festival and ceremonial unveiling of the festival logo.

The theme of the five week cultural festival is “Advancing our heritage.”

“The Olubadan palace construction is in phase 1, which is the palace itself including places for Council meetings, administrative wings, clinic.

“Some parts of the palace have been plastered but we need money to do some finishing. We are constructing the fence because the Olubadan-in-council requested that the palace be fenced. The generator house is under construction. We are trying to raise additional funds,” he said.
