Imo lawmakers move to sack TC chairmen

By Chinonso Alozie

Owerri—Momentum has continued to gather on the call for Governor Rochas Okorocha of Imo State, to dissolve the 27 local government transition committee chairmen in the state.

Vanguard gathered that no fewer than 20 lawmakers have signed a motion to be presented in the next plenary, calling on Governor Rochas Okorocha to dissolve the 27 Local Government Transition Committee chairmen in the state.

The resolve to sack the appointed chairmen became obvious when the Majority Leader of the state House of Assembly, Mr Lugard Osuji, moved a motion for their dissolution, a motion which the Speaker Acho Ihim, overruled during the last plenary, Tuesday.

But some of the lawmakers who insisted that the 27 Transition Committee Chairmen must go also gave their reasons while reacting to the N3 million allegation that the state Assembly collected during the screening of Mr Chike Ojiako, Ehime Mbano Transition Committee chairman.

The member representing Ideato North state constituency, Arthur Egwim said: “The TC chairmen were supposed to stay for six months but they have over stayed.”

In his view, Ikechukwu Amuka (Ideato South), said: “They have stayed in office for over eight months and, therefore, should be addressed as former TC chairmen.”
