Gov. Obiano said the budget was tailored towards increasing economic growth and empowering the people of the state in this period of economic recession, adding that the budget had an increase of 11 per cent on the previous year’s budget.

He said: “The budget is a bold attempt to take care of the economic needs of the people of our dear state in this trying period.”

He said the government was able to make laudable achievements last year because of the cordial relationship between the legislature and the executive arms of government.

While praying the House to accelerate hearing on the budget, he equally solicited the sustained relationship between the two arms of government.

Earlier, Speaker of the House of Assembly, Mrs Rita Maduagwu, who praised the governor for his good works in the state, assured him that the budget would be given accelerated hearing.
