THE governorship ambition of the All Progressive Congress candidate in Ondo State, Rotimi Akeredolu, SAN, received a boost, yesterday, as some staunch supporters of one of the aggrieved governorship aspirants, Senator Ajayi Boroffice joined his camp.

One of the governorship aspirants, Dr. Tunji Abayomi will be heading the reconciliation committee for Ondo North Senatorial District,  Senator Ayo Akinyelure heads the reconciliation committee for Ondo Central while the  South Senatorial District is headed by  Mr. Femi Agagu, the former Chief of Staff to late governor Olusegun Agagu.

However, some supporters of Boroffice have defected to Alliance for Democracy AD to show solidarity  for its governorship candidate, Olusola Oke.

Boroffice, who came fourth in the controversial party primaries  has repeatedly denied supporting Akeredolu because of the way and manner he emerged as the party’s candidate.

Addressing a Press conference in Akure, members of the Patriotic Progressive Forum, PPF,  which broke away from Senator Boroffice campaign Group, BCG said they have joined Akeredolu group.

Their spokesman, who was a former Commissioner in the state, Diran Iyantan said “it is a fact that some of our family have decided to follow their mind to pursue their political fortune in another party.

Iyantan said: “In every political setting, this is not unexpected. It is within their constitutional right of freedom of association and choice. We wish them well.”

While insisting that members of the group would not dump the  party they said “these issues were properly debated and discussed.

Iyantan said that Boroffice has no reason to leave the party or work against the interest of the party or its candidate.

On the defectors, the group said: “If anyone is running helter-sketter over the place with some misguided elements whether in the former BCG or in our party, we concede to them the right to do so.

“We however reject in its entirety, the idea that they have the support or consent of our leader and mentor to do so.”

Reacting on behalf of  Prof Boroffice, his media aide, Gani Mohammed said those that formed another group to join Akeredolu are on their own.

Muhammed said that Boroffice, has re branded his political family to make it available as a viable platform for its members in their future aspirations.

He said that Boroffice new. platform is named Sunshine Integrity Forum and was different from the one formed by those led by Diran Iyantan

He added that Prof. Sola Ehindero has been appointed the coordinating head while Barr. Tunde Ajayi acts as the Secretary and Gani Muhammed is the spokesperson of the Forum. End

Speaking during the inauguration of the committee in Akure, yesterday, Akeredolu said it is important for APC to go into the November 26, governorship election as one family with a common objective.According to him, the common agenda for all is to rescue Ondo State from the misrule of Governor Segun Mimiko-led Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, government and place the state on the path of sustainable development and progress.
