House of Representatives Committee on Nigerian Air Force, NAF, has lauded the Air Force for its fight against crime and terrorism, promising that the House will continue to support the force.
Speaking, yesterday, at the 97 Special Operations Group, 97 SOG, Port Harcourt, Rivers State, Chairman of the House Committee, Mr Sampson Okwu, commended the
Airforce for its role in the fight against oil theft and other national security challenges.
Speaking also in Yenagoa, Bayelsa State, Okwu said the House was ready to put in place appropriate legislative initiatives to empower the Nigerian Air Force to discharge its constitutional responsibilities in tackling the menace of oil theft.
He spoke when he and members of the committee visited Yenagoa, which is host to the Mobility Command of the Nigerian Air Force.
He reiterated the willingness of the House to cooperate with the executive in the war against pipeline vandalism, crude oil theft and other social vices not only in the Niger Delta but also across country.
Speaking in Port Harcourt earlier, he said that the committee was on tour of Air Force operational bases in the Niger Delta region to assess the situation on ground, adding that they had been briefed on the challenges facing the security body.
“It is important to state, at this juncture, that the ongoing efforts by the present administration to stop pipeline vandalism and all other vices in the country, as we call for a very proactive, well-equipped and dependable Air Force.
“Much is expected of the Nigerian Air Force in the attainment of this objective and the committee will stop at nothing in rendering necessary support to the force in that regard,” he said.
