Delta community issues 14-day ultimatum to dissidents

Over inclusion in purported and non-existent Kerebiri — Mein kingdom
Pledges loyalty to HRM Stanley Kalanama VIII, Pere of Akugbene — Mein kingdom

KALAFIOGBENE—THE people of Kalafiogbene community in Bomadi Local Government Area, Delta State, have given a 14-day ultimatum to alleged dissidents forcefully dragging them into a purported and non-existent Kerebiri-Mein kingdom to apologize to them and retract their defaming and criminal claims or face a court action.

The villagers in a communiqué issued after an emergency meeting in Warri, Delta state, signed by former chair, Delta State Muslim Pilgrimage Welfare Board and opinion leader, Alhaji Yusuf Eregbene, and others, said they were surprised that after declaring that the community was not part of the conspiracy of the purported Kerebiri kingdom, as “mysteriously” claimed by Justice Dorubu Narebor (retd.) in a recent media report, the people were still being named as co-conspirators.

They said: “Our attention has been drawn once again to a publication where one retired Justice Dorubu Narebor ignorantly and mysteriously claimed again that Kalafiogbene community is part of the faceless and non- existent Kerebiri-Mein kingdom in Bomadi local government area after we have stated unequivocally in a previous Vanguard newspaper report that we are not part of their imaginary creation called Kerebiri kingdom.”

“For the avoidance of doubt, we state unequivocally that we were neither consulted nor do we have any intention to secede from ancient Akugbene-Mein kingdom ruled by HRM, Pere Stanley Luke Kalanama VIII (JP), where Kalafiogbene community is among the ruling houses.

“In the light of the above, an emergency meeting was held in Warri on the 18th October, 2016 comprising stakeholders and leaders of thought of Kalafiogbene federated community where it was resolved that we are not part of the faceless imaginary creation called Kerebiri purported kingdom and that the general public should disregard the mischievous and malicious claims of one retired Justice Dorubu Narebor.

“The stakeholders and leaders’ further state that the activities of Godspower Oporomo and his desperate cohorts are illegal and that Senator, Dr Ifeanyi Okowa governor of Delta State and Delta State traditional Rulers Council should intervene and call them to order or make them to face the wrath of the law,” they said.

“Justice Dorubu Narebor did the illegal coronation of Godspower Oporomo as Pere in the faceless and non-existent Kerebiri-Mein kingdom. The stakeholders/ leaders expressed dismay over the height of ignorance displayed by retire Justice Narebor for calling   himself Olotu of a non-existent kingdom and that the repeated false claims of Kalafiogbene being part of purported kingdom   after our refusal is a call to anarchy,” the community added.

“The leaders and stakeholders resolved that Kalafiogbene federated community will resist any attempt to colonize it as the era of colonization is gone. We reaffirm that Kalafiogbene is a community under Akugbene-Mein kingdom and will continue to resist any attempt to force Kalafiogbene into slavery status.

“Therefore, we call on the security agencies, the police, the army, and others to arrest the trouble makers, as we do not know their evil intents and save the ancient Akugbene-Mein Kingdom from engulfing in avoidable crisis,” the people asserted.
