NIGERIA Labour Congress, NLC, Delta State Council, led by Mr. Williams Akporeha, has described the demise of the state President of the Nigeria Union of Local Government Employees NULGE, Mr. David Ofoyeno, as a rude shock.

Also, Chairman of Warri North LGA of the state, Mr Francis Eyituoyor-Maku has described as a great loss to Deltans the death of Ofoeyeno.
Ofoyeno was the factional Chairman of state NLC under the Ayuba Wabba led-NLC.

Akporeha, while expressing grief on the demise of Ofoyeno, in a statement, said, “Information of Ofoyeno’s sudden death reached me as a rude shock and I am finding it very difficult to come to terms with it.”

He described the late Ofoyeno as a vibrant union leader that would be greatly missed by NULGE and labour movement in general.

According to him, “Ofoyeno was a strong voice and a philanthropist who gave his best to the affairs of both labour and the down trodden. His death has no doubt left a vacuum that will be difficult to fill. I use this opportunity on behalf Congress, to commiserate especially with his immediate family and loved ones, NULGE as well as labour movement in general on this irreplaceable loss. May God receive his soul to eternal rest.”

Maku on his part, said, “The death of Ofoeyeno came as a surprise to Deltans, particularly now that we need his counsel to reposition the labour movement in the state.

We will miss his contribution to ensuring a cordial working relationship between NULGE and council chairmen in the 25 councils of the state.

“His death is not only a great loss to Delta State and NLC in particular but the entire nation because he was a great mobilizer and a labour leader that was highly experienced and we pray that God grants him eternal rest.”
