A modest proposal on grazing and ranching

A modest proposal on grazing and ranching

It was not too long ago when the nation appeared to be on the verge of a total break-up on account of the activities of herdsmen and the atrocities they have allegedly perpetrated countrywide. Governor Fayose, who speaks first and thinks later (if he thinks at all) had pronounced that grazing was no longer allowed in any part of Ekiti State and became an instant hero to people who would not ordinarily consider him a sage. Similar noises have been raised in other places including on the pages of newspapers by respected columnists. One of them after allowing his own opinion to become “the voice of the people” had ordered Buhari to pack all the cattle to Northern ranches immediately. His position found resonance in editorials and articles written by Southerners. Well, while elections are decided by majority vote, wisdom is not a matter of numbers. The majority can be wrong.

He opens up on strategies to be employed to tackle the looming disaster. Excerpts:

Is the Nigerian Project Redeemable?

Is the Nigerian Project Redeemable?

The Nigerian blood is a special one that flows under an equally thick skin that takes all sorts of shocks, blows and embarrassments. It is this special blood running in Nigerians that distinguishes us from citizens of other countries, especially in Africa. We are created to absorb shocks, and accept whatever is thrown at us without any complaint.

On Edo PDP campaign trail: The day Ize-Iyamu stormed Oshiomhole’s district

On Edo PDP campaign trail: The day Ize-Iyamu stormed Oshiomhole’s district

AUCHI, the headquarters of Etsako West Local Government Area, was the first port of call for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship candidate in the September 10 Edo State governorship election, Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu. The choice of Auchi, the senatorial district of Comrade Adams Oshiomhole, which came few days after the party had, in Benin, flagged off its governorship campaign was strategic. The party could have moved to Edo Central to kick start the campaign, but it appeared the PDP chose to complete the most arduous of its tasks and settled for the local government many considered as a stronghold of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Sexuality, hypocrisy, and everything in-between (2)

As I argued earlier, the clash of ego between Melaye and Mrs. Tinubu that occurred in the Senate, not in the House of Representatives as I erroneously stated last Sunday, was blown out of proportion in the press. Journalists relish sensationalism; oftentimes the make mountains out of molehills by focusing too much attention to inconsequential misbehavior of politicians and celebrities mainly to boost the sale of their newspapers and magazines.
