A 33-year-old driver, Adelaja Olalekan, has been remanded in prison custody for conspiring to rob his employer, Professor Benjamin Aribisala, a lecturer in the Department of Computer Science, Lagos State University, LASU, Ojo.

Olalekan, who allegedly led his gang to rob his boss is expected to remain in prison custody till October 24.

Those charged alongside Olalekan were Onouwari Daniel and Ifeanyi Odimba arrested by the police last year over the offence and charged before the state Magistrate’s Court, Ikeja, on July 23, 2015.

When they were arraigned, their pleas were not taken, but they were remanded in prison custody then.

Their remand was sequel to an application filed by the police, seeking for the remand of the defendants pending the release of Director of Public Prosecutions, DPP’s advice.

The trial magistrate, B. O. Osunsanmi, granted the application and the defendants were remanded.

At the resumed hearing yesterday, the court was informed by the prosecutor that DPP’s advice was not ready yet.

The police prosecutor prayed for a short adjournment and the court granted it, adjourning the matter till October 24.
