ASABA—DELTA State Government has set up a five-man committee to find a lasting solution to the lingering crisis between Udu and Uvwie Local Government Areas of the state over the ownership of Enerhen community.
Speaking during a visit to the Ovie of Uvwie Kingdom, HRM Emmanuel Sideso, Abe I, Chairman of the committee, Mrs Esther Uduehi, said that the committee was not asked to look into any technical committee report.
Uduehi said: “It is not in our terms of reference. We are a peace building committee and we are not a judicial commission of inquiry. All we want is peace.” Receiving the five-man committee, HRM Emmanuel Sideso, Abe I, commended the state government for its intervention.
Expressing confidence in Governor Ifeanyi Okowa’s peace and security agenda, he advised the committee to be thorough in its assignment. He said: “We should always do the right thing so that we can always have the desired peace in Delta State and Nigeria. There is a difference between being a citizen and an indigene of a place.”
