Obiano slashes cost of C of Os in Anambra

Awka— GOVERNOR Willie Obiano has approved reduction of all fees payable for issuance of Certificates of Occupancy, C of O, in non-state lands in Anambra State.

The new regime of payment shows that 1-1000square metres attracts N600,000.00 in Awka and Nnewi and N675,000.00 for Onitsha.

Also, 1000-2500 square metres attracts payment of N900,000.00 for Awka and Nnewi, while applicants in Onitsha will pay N675,000.00 and applicants for 2500 square metres-5000 square metres will pay N1,500,000.00 in Awka, Onitsha and Nnewi.

In the same vein, those who apply for residential purposes would pay N400000 for 1-1000 square meters in Awka and Nnewi, N650000 for 1000-2500 square metres in Awka/Nnewi, while those in Onitsha will pay N650,000.00.

Applicants whose plots are for residential purpose and fall between 2500-5000 square metres will pay N1 million in Awka, Nnewi and Onitsha.

Government also reduced the cost of C of O in rural areas, which now stood at N200000 for 1-1000 square metres, N300000 for 1000-2500 square metres and N400000 for 2500-5000 square metres.

According to the government statement, application for commercial purposes would henceforth attract an increment of only 1.5%

Before the reduction, applicants for C of O faced a lot of problems and spent millions of naira in the process.
