Awka—The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, (NDLEA) in Anambra State, said it arrested 156 suspected hard drug traffickers, including10 females, in the state in the past six months as part of the agency’s efforts to fight against the sale of illicit drugs in the country.
The state commander of NDLEA, Mr. Sule Momodu, said in Awka yesterday during activities to mark this year’s international day against drug abuse and illicit trafficking, that three vehicles allegedly used in conveying hard drugs from Anambra to Delta State were also impounded within the period.
Momodu said the fight against drug trafficking and abuse of illicit drugs was total, and paid tribute to those who sacrificed their lives for a drug free society.
According to him, 922.5 kilogrammes of cannabis have been impounded this year and appealed to Governor Willie Obiano to assist the agency in building a rehabilitation centre already approved for the state.
