Badagry (Lagos State) – A 22-year-old applicant, Emeka Ejiro, was on Friday charged before a Badagry Chief Magistrates’ Court, for allegedly stealing a carton of turkey valued at N9,500.
The accused of no fixed address is facing a one count charge of stealing.
The prosecutor, Insp. Innocent Uko, told the court that the accused committed the offence on June 3 at Olowololowo Market at Morogbo area of Badagry.
Uko said that the accused stole the carton of turkey from the complainant, Mrs Moji Olowokere.
“The accused went to the shop and when he noticed that no one was in the shop, took a carton of turkey away from the shop.
“Before he could get away, the complainant apprehended him,’’ he said.
Uko said that the offence contravened Section 285 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2011.
Counsel to the accused, Mr Adeoye Ogun, pleaded with the court to grant him bail on liberal terms.
The Magistrate, Mr Abiodun Etti, granted the accused bail in the sum of N20, 000 and a surety in like and adjourned the case till July 7.
