A factory worker,  Hadi Isa, 23, who allegedly defiled his neighbour’s 10-year-old daughter, was, yesterday, charged before an Ikeja Chief Magistrates’ Court, Lagos.

The accused, who lives at No.1, Bankole St., Off Akilo, Agege, a suburb of Lagos State, is facing a charge of sexual assault.

The prosecutor, Insp. Benedict Aigbokhan, told the court that the offence was committed on May 6 at the accused residence.

Aigbokhan said that the accused called the victim to his room on the pretext of sending her on an errand.

“The accused shut the door and had sexual intercourse with her,” he said.

He said the victim told her aunt, who reported the matter to the police and the accused was apprehended.

Aigbokhan said the offences contravened Sections 137 and 259 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2011.

The accused pleaded not guilty to the charge.

The Chief Magistrate, Mr. Tajudeen Elias, remanded the accused in prison custody and adjourned the case till May 25 for ruling on the bail application.

Similarly, s a  32-year-old unemployed man, Lekan Okebule, who allegedly inserted his penis inside the mouth of an eight-year girl, was, yesterday,  remanded in prison by an Ikeja Chief Magistrate’s Court.

The accused, who lives at 22, Fashola St., Papa Ashafa, Agege, a Lagos suburb, is facing a two- count-charge of sexual assault and causing breach of peace.
