An estimated $9 billion would be required for the rehabilitation and reconstruction of damaged infrastructure in the six North-East states of Adamawa, Bauchi, Borno, Gombe, Taraba and Yobe, the office of the Vice President said yesterday.

Though the 2015 governorship election in Enugu State, has been concluded and Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi sworn-in, yet there are insinuations that echoes from the 2011 governorship election before it may still be haunting political stakeholders in the state. This is because of a 2011 gubernatorial pre-election case filed by Dr. Chukwuemeka Obechina of the PDP still pending at the Supreme Court which is due for hearing on Wednesday, April 6. Obechina was an aspirant who filed a court case who filed a case against the PDP governorship candidate for that election, Chief Sullivan Chime who he claimed was not validly nominated.

SIXTEEN Community leaders in Obubra Local Government Area of Cross River State are being interrogated by the state Police Commissioner, Mr Henry Fadairo, over their role in the communal conflict that rocked the area, weekend.

Following the release from prison custody of the 76 farmers from Ugwuleshi Autonomous Community in Awgu Local Government Area of Enugu State, after they were granted bail by Magistrate’s Courts in Umuahia, Abia State capital, the traditional ruler of the community, Igwe Godwin Nwobi, and other leaders from the area, have commended the efforts of Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi of Enugu State in securing their freedom.
