Following the release from prison custody of the 76 farmers from Ugwuleshi Autonomous Community in Awgu Local Government Area of Enugu State, after they were granted bail by Magistrate’s Courts in Umuahia, Abia State capital, the traditional ruler of the community, Igwe Godwin Nwobi, and other leaders from the area, have commended the efforts of Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi of Enugu State in securing their freedom.

Igwe Nwobi and other political stakeholders, appealed to the Federal Government to find a lasting solution to the problem between Hausa/Fulani herdsmen and indigenous farmers in their community over the grazing of cattle on farmlands.

Commenting further on the efforts of Governor Ugwuanyi in calming frayed nerves and reducing tension on the matter, Igwe Nwobi said that the intervention of the governor made it possible for the people to be granted bail and released to return home.

Igwe Nwobi said: “I appreciate Governor Ugwuanyi’s efforts, who visited my community on the matter. It shows he is a man of the people. I also thank my community for understanding.”
