THE ongoing face-off between organised labour in the nation’s Power sector of Ikeja Electricity Distribution Company, Ikeja DISCO, over alleged sack of 400 workers, have thrown most parts of the metropolis into darkness.
This came as Electricity consumers under the network of the Ikeja Electricity Distribution Company IKEDC, yesterday called on the government to intervene in the face-off to save their businesses from incurring further losses due to lack of power supply.
Some residents of Alausa, Egbeda, Agege, Ikorodu, Oke-Odo, Iyano-Ipaja. Ojota, Oregun and Ikeja axis who spoke to Vanguard, lamented that the power situation had worsened since the face-off began.
Yesterday, aggrieved members of National Union of Electricity Employees, NUEE, and its Senior Staff Association of Electricity and Allied Companies, SSAEAC, in continuation of the siege on Ikeja DISCO, shut all its business units besides the head office located in Alausa.
Addressing workers at the Ikeja DISCO head office, General Secretary of NUEE, Joe Ajaero,
insisted that the siege would continue until the management positively addressed all labour demands.
