Much ado over NNPC probe
When President Muhammadu Buhari, indicated that his administration will probe the $20 billion allegedly missing from the coffers of the government-owned, Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, NNPC, he appeared to have spoken the minds of many Nigerians. His resolve for the probe stemmed from the allegation by the immediate past governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN, Sanusi Lamido Sanusi, who said that about $20 billion made from the sale of Nigeria’s crude oil by the NNPC could not be accounted for.
Wike dissolves boards, parastatals
PORT HARCOURT— Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State, yesterday, dissolved boards of all parastatals and agencies, leaving that of the Rivers State Waste Management Authority and the Greater Port Harcourt Development Authority. According to a statement by his media aide, Mr Opunabo Nko-Tariah, the governor also promised to complete repair work on Iloabuchi- Eagle high land road in Port Harcourt within the next three weeks.
Pro-democracy group faults EfCC’s fresh charges against Sylva
A pro-democracy organisation, Open Democracy Network, Nigeria, has expressed sadness over the decision of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, to press new fraud charges against the former Bayelsa State governor, Chief Timipre Sylva, based on a case that had been dismissed by the court.

THE Edo State Election Petitions Tribunal, yesterday, ruled in favour of the candidate of All Progressives Congress, APC and member representing Akoko Edo federal constituency in the House of Representatives, Peter Akpatason, on the motion challenging alleged irregular signatures in the petition against him by the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Mr Oladele Bankole-Balogun.
