The OPEC oil cartel on Tuesday raised slightly its world oil demand forecast for 2015, while acknowledging that there remains a supply glut on the market. In its monthly oil report, the cartel, which pumps out just under a third of the world’s crude, raised global oil demand by 60,000 barrels a day for 2015.

The Election Petition Tribunal in Katsina has ordered the inspection of documents used in the governorship election in the state. The PDP governorship candidate, Alhaji Musa Nashuni, had in an ex parte motion, filed by his Counsel, Mr Ifedayo Adedipe, urged the tribunal to order the inspection of the documents and materials. In his ruling, Justice Adamu Gulma, the tribunal Chairman, granted the petitioner’s application to inspect the documents and materials used for April 11 polls

Edo State Government has denied owing workers salary arrears, insisting it is up-to-date in its obligation to the state workers. The government in a statement yesterday insisted that the state should not be lumped in the league of some states in default of payment of salaries as it meets its wage obligations before the end of each month. In a statement, the State Commissioner for Information and Orientation, Mr. Louis Odion said: “we read with deep shock claims that the Government of Edo State owes workers five months salary arrears. Nothing could be more misleading and mischievous.

Two South African men charged with the rape and murder of a 86-year-old Austrian-born nun pleaded guilty on Tuesday, saying they had broken into the convent to steal food. Sister Gertrud Tiefenbacher, from the Sacred Heart Home Convent in the village of Ixopo, southwest of Durban, was murdered last month. In a statement read in court, Sibongiseni Phungula, 25, said he and his co-accused, Mondli Shozi, 26, had gone to the covent to look for food after a night of drinking.
