A non-governmental organization, NGO, Hopewell Initiatives for National Development, HIND has berated the insensitivity of some Muslim mothers towards adequate parenting of their children.
This was made known during a one day seminar organized by HIND at Multipurpose Hall, Lagos State Secretariat Central Mosque, Alausa Ikeja recently.
In her welcome address, the Founder of the NGO, Alhaja Bilquees Aiyepola said the theme of the seminar was meant to educate Muslim women on their responsibility in the dynamic society, saying many women have lost focus due to intricacies in the society.
The theme of the seminar according to the founder, ‘Nigeria Muslim Women in the Era of Change,’ focused on equipping Muslim women to compete and strive effectively in the era of change, so that they can be equipped to take leadership position and responsibilities.
While appealing for support from philanthropists, Aiyepola stated that her NGO has trained not less than 780 children on the usage of fire extinguisher among others.
In her keynote address, former Lagos State Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Women Affairs and Poverty Alleviation,WAPA, Alhaja Risikat Akiode urged Muslims women to seek knowledge, adding without knowledge it would be difficult to take their rightful position in the society.
Another speaker who spoke on the topic, “Muslim in Leadership Role and the Task Ahead”, Alhaja Fatima Folashade Gawat said, Muslim mothers, should get their priorities right, adding that many broken marriages were due to failure on the part of mothers to train their children adequately.
