Jigawa state governor, Muhammad Badaru Abubakar has made a passionate appeal to the chief of army staff, Lt. General Tukur Yusuf Buratai to as a matter of urgency to establish army formation in the state with a view at enhancing security situation.
Speaking at the Chief of army staff annual conference 2015 which took place at the Manpower Development Institute, Dutse Jigawa state with a theme “Contemporary Conflict, Human Rights and Military Operations”, said the call has become necessary in view of the security challenges facing neighbouring states boarder with the state.
His added, “Our state is neighbouring with the two most states Yobe and Maiduguri facing insurgent threat by the so called Islamic sect Boko Haram for decade, resulting in death of thousands of people several others lost their homes and farmland”.
The governor explained that the formation of the army in the state will pave way for enhancement of security in the state, added that with the constant prayers and God protections Jigawa was prevented from witnessing the activities of insurgents.
Badaru pledged to provide suitable free land for the Nigerian Army for the establishment of the formation in the state to cater for the office accommodation, school and other basic necessities that will make their lives meaningful and advantage in the vicinity.
Speaking earlier, Lt. General Buratai explained that the security challenges witnessed in the Country in the areas of restiveness and terrorism Boko Haram insurgency in particular has posed a serious threat to our national security, added that “this has placed great demands on the Nigerian Army which has not relented in living up to the expectations of the nation’s citizenry”.
His words:-“The troops have continued to fight the insurgency with a reinvigorated spirit and in a very professional manner, to have a professionally responsive Nigerian Army in the discharge of its constitutional roles this vision hinges on professionalism and responsive”
