Heartland management sacked

Heartland FC

The Task Force Committee on Sports Facilities yesterday sacked the management of Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) side, Heartland.

This comes up three days after the management, headed by Okey Ibe, saw off the side’s campaign to a seventh spot finish in the 2014/15 NPFL season.

The committee equally threatened to sack as many as 50 percent of the entire players’ work force.

A  source disclosed that key players of the side are threatening mass exit due to the administrative style of the committee.

“The Task Force Committee has sacked the management of Heartland and put in place an interim management committee to run the club.

“The committee equally opted to keep only 16 players while others will be shown the exit door.

“The decision to downsize is being done without the technical input of the coaching crew.

“Heartland key players are kicking against the decision to unilaterally reduce the players’ work force and are threatening to leave the club en masse.

“The Task Force committee and the players already had an issue over the decision of the task force to single-handedly select Most Valuable Player (MVP) and other outstanding players for reward.
