The Director of Public Works, Federal Road  Maintenance Agency, FERMA, Godson Amos wants communities in Imo state to assist   the government in the cleaning of minor drainage system in their localities.

He spoke during the inspection of federal roads at Awo-Idemili in Orsu Local Government Area.

Amos said that if communities could make it their duty to properly clean  drainage systems  in their areas, the damage on their roads would be minimized, adding that the abandonment of these drainages had become not only critical but also disturbing to the agency.

His words, “I say this because when the drainage is silted up, water will not over-flow, thereby making the flood to wash out the road. So communities should take care of roads that passed through their areas.”
