Former Director General of the Securities and Exchange Commission, SEC, Ms. Arunmah Oteh, penultimate week, was appointed as Vice President/Treasurer of the World Bank. Prior to joining SEC, Oteh was Group Vice President, Corporate Services, African Development Bank Group (AfDB). Shareholders express joy on the new appointment, saying that she is creative and confident.
Alh. Gbadebo Olatokunbo, Shareholders’ Activist: said, “My sincere and happy moment in congratulating you on the occasion of your appointment to the position of “Vice President /Treasurer of the World Bank.”
l also use this occasion to give thanks to the Almighty God for rewarding you abundantly in the presence of some of the stakeholders in the Capital-Market who were not comfortable with my support for your person., more pleasant news and good positions are still coming your ways.
“Once again, accept my congratulations and always give thanks to God; for His support and protections, “l wish you progress in your new endeavour at the World Bank”.
Within the shareholders leadership, they used to say the woman happens to be my girl friend. They refused to see her genuineness and patriotism because they were not as disciplined as she and that is why the National Assembly could not just stand her. You see the dignity with which she work.
She is creative and confident, that alone has put anybody who is not confident enough away from her. We are so corrupt in this country that anybody who tries to do anything right they will attempt to destroy that person at all cost and it has been working for them but I know very soon God will take us out of all that.
“The appointment showed that the International community recognised the qualities of Nigeria’s personnel. I am using this medium to advise Oteh not to relent in her new job but aspire to greater positions in the future. “This appointment indicates that hard work pays. l urge Nigerians to emulate Oteh and stand for the truth at all costs”.
Mr. Taiwo Oderinde, Chairman Proactive Shareholders Association of Nigeria:
The last time some of us came together, we found that the woman had something to offer. When you look at her, she stands for what is right and she is upright in her dealings. The road map she came with to the capital market was able to impact on the market, she did so many creative things in the market and example is the shareholders academy.
I believe she has played her part in the market when she was the DG SEC and we are able to see that today. For her new appointment into the World Bank, she is a woman of vision and I believe she would be able to do her best in that capacity as VP and she has been playing roles in the financial institutions before, even before her appointment into SEC. So I believe she is a woman that will make Nigeria proud based on that assignment and I wish her all the best and pray for her not to let Nigeria down based on past antecedents, God will help her.
