Maritime Varsity to commence academic activities Sept —VC

WARRI—Nigeria Maritime University, NMU, Okerenkoko, Delta State, is to commence full academic activities in September this year with potentials to be one of the best in the world.

Prof. Ongoebi Otebu, Vice Chancellor NMU, in her address, at Oporoza, Gbaramatu Kingdom, Warri South West Local Government Area, at a reception by the Gbaramatu people for the Governing Council of the university, said:  “I know that it is your prayer that the university commences full academic activities. By reason of my position as the Vice Chancellor, I tell you that we shall commence full academic session in September this year.

“The ship of the Maritime University has berthed and we shall continue to sail on. I am one of you and we shall do our best to ensure that the light will shine on. I promise that we shall do our best in guiding the university to achieve its goals.”

Earlier in his speech, HRH, Patani Heavens, Regent of Gbaramatu Kingdom, said: “We have been looking forward to this day. We are happy that this day is coming to pass. We are sure that with this visit the university will soon begin full academic session.”

NIMASA to provide funding

On his part, Dr. Patrick Akpobolokemi, Director General, NIMASA, promised that adequate funding of the university will be provided as the establishment of the university was one of the best achievements of his administration.

He noted that when former President Goodluck Jonathan heard their manifestoes, he had doubted the vision but gave his support and today the vision is has become a reality.
