Yenagoa – Anxiety has heightened on Brass Island on the Atlantic shores of Bayelsa State, following the decision of the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, to declare the rescheduled Brass II constituency election inconclusive.
The Returning Officer for the rescheduled poll, Perekere Bertola, had earlier declared the candidate of All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA, Mr Alfred Watson, as winner of the poll.
But INEC on Monday, declared the rescheduled poll for the constituency inconclusive.
Supporters of the APGA candidate have, meanwhile, described INEC’s action as shameful saying that the commission is being tele-guided by vested interests in the area.
Other groups within the ruling Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, and All Progressives Congress, APC, has meanwhile, called on the APGA candidate to stop parading himself as the winner of the rescheduled election.
INEC, in a statement by its Public Relations Officer, Timidi Wariowei, in Yenagoa, declared that the last Saturday’s House of Assembly rescheduled elections in Brass Constituency II was inconclusive.
