Navy to mark 59th anniversary with sea trip

LAGOS—In an apparent move to strengthen civil-Military relations, the Western Naval Command,WNC, of the Nigerian Navy yesterday said its ships would be opened to members of the public, Thursday for a sea trip.

The sea trip according to the Flag Officer Commanding, FOC Western Naval Command, Rear Admiral Jonathan Ango , was part of activities to mark the NN 59th anniversary, as well as to avail interested persons of the workings of the Navy.

The FOC in a statement signed by the Command Information Officer, Lieutenant Commander Abdulsalam Sani explained that the ships would be opened to the public by 8am.

According to him: “Interested members of the public who wish to participate in the sea trip are expected to be at the Nigerian Navy Ship, NNS, BEECROFT Naval Base Apapa or Naval Dockyard Limited Victoria Island Jetties on Thursday, May 28, 2015 by 8:30am. In addition, same day, the ships of the Nigerian Navy would be opened to visitors from 8:30am to 6:00pm. Members of the public, including friends of the Navy, are invited to avail themselves of this opportunity.”
