Anglican Bishop tasks Buhari on balance

Bishop of the Anglican Diocese of Ughelli, Rt. Revd (Dr.) Cyril Odiboroghene Odutemu, has called on President-elect, General Muhammadu Buhari (retd) to ensure a balance of political patronage among the various geo-political and religious realities in Nigeria.

He said such balance would give Nigerians a sense of belonging in the distribution of political offices, stressing that it would be serious disservice to humanity if the heads of the three arms of the government come from one religious group.

He spoke while presenting his address and charge to the third session of the 6th Synod of the Diocese of Ughelli, at St Luke’s Church, Ewhu.

Bishop Odutemu, who is the President of Synod, stated that government must “make deliberate efforts to spread the key offices of the nation around the six geo-political zones at the federal level and all senatorial districts at state level, party and religious affiliations notwithstanding.”
