KADUNA—Governor Mukhtar Ramalan Yero of Kaduna State yesterday ordered the release of scores of  All Progressives Congress, APC, supporters detained for unruly acts against the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.

The Chairman, Media Committee of the Organisation, Mallan Yakubu Lere, who dislcosed this to newsmen, said the governor decided to use his powers as the Chief Security Officer of the state to order their release, not only as a sign of his magnanimity, but also to abide by last month’s peace agreement reached between him and the gubernatorial candidate of APC, Mallam Nasir El Rufai. The Campaign Committee of the governor, however, insisted that the supporters of the APC in Kaduna State were violent, a charged the APC had also heaped on the PDP in the state.

Said Lere: “We have gathered you here today to preach on the need for peace in Kaduna state, peace which our rivals do not appreciate.

”Last Sunday, our supporters were molested in Zaria all our billboards destroyed after Governor Yero’s campaign attracted a record crowd in the city   the previous Saturday.

“That is not the first time, they are doing this. It is almost a daily occurrence in some parts of Kaduna that APC claims strong hold.

“We have been attacked  several times in Udawa village along Birnin Gwari, Bakin Ruwa in Igabi Local Government Area.
