Polls: We ‘ll not be sidelined again — Shop owners

Traders in Lagos, under the auspices of Shop Owners Welfare Forum, SOWF, yesterday warned politicians not to sideline them again after casting their votes in the forthcoming polls billed for March 28 and April 11. Speaking at the Nigerian Union of Teachers Hall in Lagos, Chairman of the group, Mr. Chidi Onu, said the forum sought to know the plans of various candidates vying for political positions for the development of the nation, state and members of the group.

OWERRI—Some women, who barricaded the entrance into the secretariat of Imo State Council of Traditional Rulers, ahead of the visit of President Goodluck Jonathan to the place, were flushed out by the police Tuesday. The police used tear gas on the women, who were believed to be loyalists of All Progressives Congress, APC, after their passionate appeal for them to quietly leave the place was rebuffed by the women.
