Buhari vows to end corruption in Nigeria if elected

PORT HARCOURT : Presidential candidate of the All Progressive Congress, APC, General Muhamadu Buhari rtd, has warned Nigerians against voting for the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP at the general polls if they truly want to end corruption in the country.
Speaking Thursday at the South South presidential rally of his party at the Liberarion stadium, Port Harcourt, Buhari stressed on the danger of allowing corruption thrive in the country.”If we don’t kill corruption this corruption will kill us. If you make a mistake of voting the PDP I assure you, you will regret it”, he said.
“I want you to be serious about your country. If we miss this opportunity we will be worst for it, God forbid”, he said.
Continuing, Buhari said if the federal government had been responsible with public funds the country would not have challenges of insecurity and poverty.
While lamenting the drop in the value of the naira he assured that he would push back what he would save from the crusade against corruption into building key sectors of the economy.
Director General of Buhari presidential campaign organisation, governor Chibuike Amaechi said the APC would review the presidential amnesty program for ex militants in the Niger Delta to improve the lives of beneficiaries. According to him, an elected APC government should not be seen paying compensation for crime
While expressing hope that the APC would win the elections Amaechi also said the party was firmly in support of use of the card reader machines by the Independent National Electoral Commission.
The governor said the machine would eliminate rigging. The governor who conceded that he was among those that rigged in previous elections alleged that about thirty members of his party had been brutally murdered in the state. ” What about when we were writing result, was Nigerians voting. This is the first time we will vote. PDP is afraid of card reader. Over 30 members of APC have been killed . No day passes they don’t kill one. Today they will kill one “, he said.
Amaechi who expressed dissatisfaction with the role of the Police in the state said his APC was contesting the elections with the security body and not the PDP
Former governor of Bayelsa state, Chief Timipre Sylva assured that a vote for Buhari was a vote against corruption, adding that when Buhari would be sworn in, corruption would drop by 80 percent.
Others who also drummed up support for the party at the rally were the national Chairman of the party, Chief John Odigie Oyegun, governorship candidate of the party in the state, Dr Dakuku Peterside.
Peterside who spoke for the governorship candidates of the party in the region assured that the party would win the general polls.
