Officers of Kwara State Police Command, yesterday, intercepted some vehicles laden with arms around Kosubosu, a border town in Baruten local government area of the state.
In a related development, the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state, at a press conference, raised the alarm over what it described as increasing spate of violent attacks against members of the party by people it claimed were working for the Peoples Democratic Part (PDP) and challenged the police to investigate and bring the culprits to book if truly they were not secret collaborators against APC in the state.
The state Commissioner of Police, Salihu Garba, who confirmed the arrest of the vehicles laden with arms, said the arrests were made separately on Friday and yesterday, adding that he had despatched men from the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) to go and bring the vehicles and suspects to the state headquarters of the command.
The police boss said investigations had commenced into the incident.
Police sources said one of the vehicles was a truck and was said to be coming from Burkina-Faso to Ibadan before officials of the Kosubosu Divisional Police Headquarters nabbed the driver alongside an accomplice.
