UGHELLI—The family of slain Mudiaga Maduku has called on Delta State government to fish out the killers of their son.
Mudiaga was killed in cold blood by suspected cultists in Ughelli near his family house where he and friends were relaxing in a bar few days ago.
Speaking exclusively to Vanguard at his Akunugbe residence in Ughelli, father of the deceased, Capt. Richard Maduku (retd.), described the incident as a phenomenon and a puzzle he found hard to unravel.
He said: “Personally, I still can’t imagine what would propel young male adults to embark on such killing spree without any proper justification. It is actually beyond my understanding and I do not really know what to say about it.”
Elder sister of the deceased, Dr. (Mrs.) U. V. Awhefada, a law lecturer at Delta State University, said “the death of my brother is painful and mysterious.
“We want the government to fish out the killers. How can an innocent man be cut down like that?”
On his part, elder brother of the late Mudiaga, Mr. Ereremena Maduku, described his brother’s death as very pathetic and a great loss to the family.
In a sober voice, he said: “I can’t really comprehend the circumstances that led to his killing neither can I confirm any fishy activity around him before that unfaithful day.
“My mum is currently grieving and she is in deep pains. I honestly pray God to give her the fortitude and heart to bear the loss of her son. “
Until his death, the late Mudiaga, 32, was a secondary school teacher at Usiefrun in Ughelli South Local Government Area and was married with two kids.
He was among the persons killed on Sunday, February 1, in a series of cult related killings that had been rocking Ughelli and its environs in the past two weeks.
