Bureau de change operator charged with $3,700 theft

Lagos— A bureau de change operator, Abdulrahman Yusuf, 65, was, yesterday, docked before a Lagos Magistrate’s Court sitting at Tinubu, for allegedly stealing $3,700 (N694,860).

The defendant allegedly stole the said money that was entrusted in his care by one Ibrahim Ango.

The prosecutor, Livinus Okeke, told the court that Yusuf committed the alleged offence on December 8, 2014, at Abibu-Oki Street, Lagos Island.

He said the money, which belongs to one Okwudili Nnoruka, Ango’s customer, was given to the defendant to change to its naira equivalent.

Magistrate Yetunde Pinheiro granted him bail in the sum of N500,000, with two sureties in like some and adjourned the matter to February 27.
