FEB poll: Why I left PDP for SDP —Abigor

By Dapo Akinrefon

Candidate of the Social Democratic Party, SDP, contesting the Delta State House of Assembly for Warri South constituency 1, Mr Godwin Abigor, has said that he left the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, following the party’s decision to hand over the ticket to the Chief Whip of the Assembly, Mrs  Omawumi Udoh.

Abigor won the PDP primary election and was duly given a Certificate of Return, but his name was substituted in Abuja.

Abigor lamented that the national leadership of the party failed to wade into the crisis.

“I decided to leave the PDP when it became clear that the party had chosen not to take the part of democracy with the process of picking its candidate. They violated the same principle and standard set by the party. The party has electoral guidelines and constitution that provide that any aspirant that gets one simple majority, in the party primaries, should be the rightful candidate of the party,” he said.
