ABEOKUTA—FORMER Governor of Ogun State, Otunba Gbenga Daniel, yesterday, challenged his successor, Senator Ibikunle Amosun to probe his administration over alleged scandal in the proposed agro-cargo airport.
Daniel who spoke at the flag off of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Remo Federal constituency campaign held at the Ikenne Motor Park, accused the present administration of neglecting the road linking Ikenne with Sagamu which he said his administration started.
Amosun’s government had accused Daniel’s administration of defrauding the state through the proposed Agro-Cargo Airport project located at Iperu in Ikenne Local Government Area of the state.
Daniel said he dared the current administration to institute a probe against his administration to prove the allegations of any foul play against him if there is any.
According to him, as a sitting governor, he has all the powers to investigate any shady deal but has failed to do so for close to four years. This shows the clueless nature and grand mischief of his administration.
He said: “No government’s money was spent on the project. It was solely funded by the consultants who they chased away on assumption of office.
“A new administration in Ogun State and able representation at the Federal House of Representatives shall revisit all these projects, turn around the fortunes of Ikenne and the entire Remo Federal constituency and make life more meaningful to the people.”
While speaking on the state of roads in Remo Federal constituency, which comprises Ikenne, Remo North and Sagamu Local Government Areas of the state, Daniel accused Amosun’s government of criminal neglect of Remo Federal constituency, especially the historical town of Ikenne where there is no visible government’s presence for the past three and a half years.
In his remarks, the PDP candidate for Remo Federal Constituency, Oladipupo Adebutu promised a new dawn in the overall development of the constituency.
