I asked her the question why she thinks a Veg life is important for us in Africa. Here her answer:
Dr. Sharita Yazid: A plant based diet is Africa’s Liberation diet. Our original diet consist of fruits, vegetables, nuts, grains and pure water. Our teeth are made to chew plants like other herbivores.
We don’t have the canine teeth that’s needed to rip into meat like a lion. Carnivorous animals have intestinal tracts that are 3-6x their body length, while herbivores have intestinal tracts 10-12x their body length. Human beings have the same intestinal tract ratio as herbivores. Carnivorous animals have 20 times more gastric acids that’s needed to digest meat.
In many divine scriptures we are directed not to kill. The commandment “Thou shall not kill”. In ancient Khemet (Egypt) 42 principles of Maat “I have not killed” or “I have not defowl an animal”. Somewhere along the lines we lost this principle causing us to suffer, not only physically but mentally and spiritually as well.
In my research among the blacks in the southern parts of the United States of America and in Ghana, the elders will tell you that meat was something they ate once or twice a year on holidays. And even then everyone was given a small portion. Now today we are eating more meat than ever as well as adopted a western diet that consist of dairy, white refine sugar, white flour, very strong drink, white “nutrient deprived” rice, imported chicken, etc.
This diet doesn’t compliment our lifestyle and environment. Our ancestors were stronger, lived longer and didn’t know of heart dis-ease, diabetes, high blood pressure, fibroid tumors, cancer, bad eyesight, mental disorders, STDs (sexually transmitted diseases), or ebola. The list goes on and on.
Research has shown by eating a plant based diet one can build a stronger immune system, gain more energy, reduce the effects of stress on the body, mental clarity, brilliant skin, prevent and reverse dis-ease and extend your life span. If you’re not convinced by what I am saying here today then I challenge you to try a plant based diet for 3 months. There is no better research than that.
