Mr. Bernard Junufe, 49, a staff of a Lagos-based company, BHS International Limited, was, yesterday, charged before an Igbosere Magistrate’s Court, Lagos, for allegedly using forged receipts to steal his employer’s N60 million.
Junufe, who resides at 36, Ile Ogbo St., AIT Road, Alagbado, Lagos, is standing trial on a three-count charge of conspiracy, stealing and forgery.
The prosecutor, Innocent Odugbo, told the court that the accused and one Mayowa Adegbesan, now at large, committed the alleged offences between 2007 and 2009.
Odugbo said the accused committed the offences in Lagos, as a staff of BHS International Ltd, Tafa Balewa Square, Lagos.
The prosecutor said the accused forged and issued receipts of the company to unsuspecting customers to the tune of N60 million.
He alleged that the accused stole the money and did not remit same to the company’s account.
He said the offences contravened Sections 278 ( 1) (b), 361 (1) (a) and 409 of the Criminal Law of Lagos, 2011.
The accused pleaded not guilty to the charge.
The Magistrate, Mrs O. Oshin, granted bail to the accused in the sum of N500,000 with two sureties in like sum, and adjourned the case till January 20, 2015 for mention.
