The Bolou-Owei of Niger Delta, Chief Tunde Smooth, has said that since the Delta State Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, deputy governorship slot had been ceded to the Ijaws, the choice of who becomes the running mate to Senator Infeanyi Okowa should be a collective responsibility and not that of a few persons.
He thanked the state governor, Dr. Emmanual Uduaghan, for the peaceful primaries that were conducted in the state, saying that the governor’s commitment to peaceful co-existence was once again demonstrated during the various primaries.
Smooth, who addressed newsmen, said that Deltans should encourage the governor in ensuring that peace and love continue to reign in every part of the state.
He also congratulated Okowa on his emergence as the governorship candidate of the PDP in the state.
Chief Smooth appealed to the Ijaws that the choice of who to become the running mate to Okowa should be a collective responsibility, noting that there should be a meeting of all leaders and elders of Ijaw to decide who among their sons and daughters should be given the position.
