SAIPA, the Iranian automobile brand is one of the revelations of this year’s on-going Abuja International Motor show. The Iranian auto brand which boasts only four models including pickup, sedan and hatchbacks, according to its officials,is in Nigeria to offer affordable but durable cars to the low and middle class.
In a chat with Mr. George Ejike Francis, Managing Director Sparkling Energy Resources Ltd, whose company represents Saipa in Nigeria, hinted Vanguard of their plans make the cars affordable and available to Nigerians under the new Federal Government auto policy.
Mr. Francis explained that he came across the company, Saipa in his quest for affordable but durable cars for the Nigerian masses.
Hear him: “As a businessman, some of us are daring. In one of my trips to Iran, I visited a place called industrial city in Iran where every car part is produced. In this city, nobody will say, he is unemployed. The sanctions on the country has made them to do things for themselves. I admired this city and knew that Nigerians can replicate what I saw there. Early this year when the new auto policy was announced, a friend called to inform me of the opportunity in the auto sector.
I saw that it was possible to produce a brand new car at affordable price that even a messenger can buy. Cars built strong with affordable price and available parts. That was why I went for Saipa, a car that will be priced far less than N1.5 million.
The Sparkling Energy Resources boss disclosed that plans are on to set up the plant in any location in the country as his partners were in the country to finalise decision on the new plant which is expected to roll out cars in less than a year time.
Saipa models include: Tiba 2, Saipa 111 (hatchbacks), Tiba Saloon, and Rich (pickup with double cabin).
