Okere Urhobo protest alleged marginalisation

Ahead of the opening of Delta State’s Revenue House in Warri today, hundreds of indigenes of Okere Urhobo Kingdom, Warri South Local Government Area, stormed the premises yesterday, protesting alleged refusal of the Chairman, Board of Internal Revenue, Mr. Onowakpor Thomas, to grant them audience on employment and other community relations matters, as a host community.

Displaying placards with various inscriptions, the protesters blocked the ever busy Airport Road, Warri.

Mr. Cyril Eboh, Chairman of Okere Urhobo Development Movement, said Okere had written several letters on the issues to Mr. Thomas and Chief Dennis Omovie and Governor Emmanuel Uduaghan.

Chief Emmanuel Okumagba, President-General of Okere Urhobo Kingdom, expressed shock that the leadership of Okere Urhobo Kingdom knew nothing about a project about to be commissioned in the area.
