Enyimba
Enyimba FC kept up their hope of winning the Glo NPFL league by beating Kaduna United 1-0 at the Kaduna Township Stadium.
A cagey opening played out in the middle spread out in the 15th minute when Mfon Udoh nearly profited from a mix up and a poor clearance to put Enyimba a goal up.
The League’s top scorer failed to direct his shot into an empty net with goalkeeper, Raymond Katung, displaced after rushing a clearance from a back pass.
Enyimba kept the pressure on the host and Udoh twice came close to scoring his 18th of the season but a good defensive block denied him on both times.
Kaduna responded with some with a good passing move that ended with Akueme beating Femi Thomas in Enyimba’s goal but captain Chinedu Udoji cleared the danger.
Akueme once again came close to scoring against his old side but his header off a Suleiman Musa corner kick came off the post.
The second half resumed with both teams wasting half chances with no real threat to either goalkeepers.
Kadiri Ikhana made two second half substitutions and one among them Bobby Sokari gave them the lead.
Sokari dribbled through the right half of the Kaduna United defence and finished with ease past Katung.
Shortly after Emeka Nwanna profited from a defensive mix up between Katung and Samaila Suleiman but his shot was cleared off the line by Peter Ambrose.
Kaduna United failed to muster any real attempt to level things up as Enyimba back-line lead by Chinedu Udoji and Emmanuel Anyawu kept them at bay.
Three minutes of time added on was played after regulation time but Enyimba held on to pick a well deserve three points.
The three points dropped at home has all but confirmed Kaduna United’s demotion to the Nigeria National league.
